COMMUNITY LIAISON PROGRAM
The Community Liaison Program is a 24-bed inpatient unit that serves as a primary point of entry for patients referred from both Hamilton-Wentworth's Emergency Psychiatry Service (EPS-or EPT) and the regional catchment area. The Community Liaison Program offers assessment of tertiary care patients and short-stay acute care services until transfer to appropriate specialty unit within the hospital or discharge.

In June 1998, the Community Liaison Program completed a systematic review of all components and aspects of its service delivery. Designed to ensure the efficient coordination of service delivery across regions served, the project team included representatives from all regions of the catchment area, including Emergency Psychiatry Services (also known as EPT) at St. Joseph's Hospital. Outcomes included the definition of patients considered appropriate for regional transfer. The final report is pending.
Plans for implementation of a proposed Day Hospital Service remain "on hold" indefinitely.
